This 40- hour course is designed as a refresher or intermediate look and analysis of all drug type investigations. Topics include, but are not limited to, current techniques and legal issues; money laundering overview; ; drug identification; meth labs, terrorism and drugs; basic search warrant preparation, surveillance techniques including a practicum, confidential informants, interview and interrogations techniques, and raid planning with an emphasis on officer safety.
Topics Covered: Drug Identification, Current Drug Trends, Surveillance Techniques**, Search Warrant Preparation and Execution***, Handling of Confidential Informants, Raid Planning, Legal Issues, Court Preparation, Technical Resources, Terrorism Overview, Interview and Interrogation Techniques, and Officer Safety.

Search Warrant Preparation |
| Course Description: |
This course may be 8-24 hours depending on the needs of the agency. This course is hands on intensive and ideal not only for experienced investigators as a refresher, but also for the officer who has never written a warrant. The student will formally prepare several search warrants and descriptions according to accepted practices utilized by law enforcement agencies in South Florida. This also includes a practical exercise wherby the student identifies and establishes probable cause for the search warrant. Legal aspects of the warrant will be emphasized and discussed. |

Topics include: (1) Internet 101: What is the internet?...yesterday and today; (2) methods of accessing the internet; (3) top users of the internet and the governing bodies; (4) child pornography; (5) where does child porn originate?; (6) internet investigations; (7) use of internet software tools; (8) evidence gathering; (9) Email and newsgroup investigations; (10) IRC and chat group investigations; (11) reading and interpreting email headers to determine origin; spoofing methods, (12) setting up chat undercover operations; (13) investigative problems and concerns; (14) forged email and anonymous remailers; (15) evidence and warrants what information is relevant?; and (16) federal laws and regulations.

This course will explain the history of the internet, top level domains, and how information is indexed for retrieval. The officer will become acquainted with internet search engines to gather information and in addition will be exposed to network tools used to track down IP addresses, determine domain ownership, be familiarized with full qualified domain names, and how to establish locations of offending websites and individual computers. |

Street Survival and Narcotics Investigations |
| Course Description: |
This 40-hr seminar is a newly designed course specifically structured to provide the officer with survival skills involving the use of firearms and the utilization of common defensive tactics. Both these components will also assist the officer whether they are working a narcotics investigation or working the "street".
The course includes two full day practicums; one involving a moving surveillance, and the second involving defensive tactics and firearms instruction.
